Morris and Jeanette were cherished members of the Gothenburg community, having made the town their home for many years. Jeanette, known for her perfectionism and exceptional talent. Her skills in weaving, crocheting, knitting, sewing, quilting, and embroidery were unmatched, and she took great pride in creating beautiful, intricate pieces that reflected her creativity and craftsmanship. As a businesswoman, she owned a shop in downtown Gothenburg for many years, where her love for textiles and dishes was evident. Her attention to detail and commitment to quality earned her a loyal following and deep respect within the community.
Morris, equally skilled and passionate about his interests, shared a strong bond with Jeanette, and together they enjoyed many activities. They were avid participants in black powder shooting competitions, often traveling with their tipi to Fort Hartsuff for post-Civil War reenactment encampments. Whether it was competing in shooting events or camping, they relished the opportunity to immerse themselves in historical reenactments and outdoor adventures.
Their shared love for history and craftsmanship extended beyond shooting and reenacting. The couple also participated in archaeological digs, continuing their lifelong exploration of the past. Both Morris and Jeanette were excellent shots, with Jeanette’s marksmanship often surpassing even her husband’s, despite his own skill.
